Instructions for Uploading a CEFR Certificate/Transcript
I. Purpose & Eligible Students
- Purpose: This announcement explains how new students who already have an English proficiency test score can upload it to be assigned to an English module.
- Eligible Students: First-year undergraduate students.
II. Core Process & Key Timeline
A. Core Action
- Upload your English proficiency test certificate to the designated system within the specified period to register for a module.
B. Designated System
- System Name: English Placement System
- Important: Please ensure that you upload the document to the correct website; otherwise, submissions to the incorrect system will not be processed.
C. Key Timeline
- Upload Period: Friday, August 1, 2025 (00:00) to Sunday, August 24, 2025 (23:59).
- Review Deadline: All reviews will be completed by Tuesday, September 2, 2025 (16:00).
- Online Course Selection: Subject to the final schedule announced by the Registrar Division.
III. Crucial Rules & Reminders
- Rule 1: Choose Only One Path
- You must choose either "Upload Score Report/Certificate" or "Register for English Placement Test." You cannot do both.
- If you register for the placement test and then upload a score, your test registration will be automatically canceled without further notice.
- Reminder 2: Upload Early
- If the submission deadline falls on a holiday or weekend, the review process will be postponed to the following Monday.
- To avoid rejection due to incorrect file formats or non-compliant documents, we strongly advise you to upload your documents early to allow sufficient time for review and potential resubmission.
IV. Document Upload Requirements
- File Format: Upload a complete and clear scanned copy of your score report or certificate.
- Invalid Documents:
- Blurry images, partial screenshots, or any form of webpage screenshots will be rejected.
- High school diplomas or scores from high-school-internal exams are not accepted.
- Please review the "Examples of Unsuccessful Submissions" attachment (linked at the top of the webpage) to avoid submitting non-compliant documents.
- Non-Chinese/English Documents: Please provide a Chinese or English translation (which must include a note stating it corresponds to the original from the official institution or authority) and merge it with the original document into a single PDF file for upload.
- Repeated Uploads: After your submission is approved, do not upload it again. You will be held responsible for any loss of module data caused by repeated uploads.
V. Module Assignment Criteria
- Primary Basis: Please refer to the English Module Registration and CEFR Correspondence Table.
- For Other Tests: If your test is not listed in the link above, the following principles will apply:
- Module 1: Corresponds to CEFR B1 and below.
- Module 2: Corresponds to CEFR B2.
- Module 3: Corresponds to CEFR C1 and above.
VI. Review Process & Checking Your Status
A. Review Process
- The review is a manual process and cannot be done on non-working days.
- The review period takes approximately 6 to 7 working days, depending on the volume of submissions. Please be patient.
B. How to Check Your Status
- During the review period: You can log in to the "English Placement System" at any time to check your submission status.
- Note: From August 24 (23:59) to September 2 (16:00), the system will be in query-only mode; no new uploads will be possible.
- Final Results:
- Successful Applicants: You can log in to the "NCKU Course Information & Enrollment System" and view your assigned module under "My Course Schedule."
- Unsuccessful/Non-upload Applicants: A list will be posted on the homepage of the "NCKU Course Information & Enrollment System."
- An email notification will also be sent, but if you do not receive it due to incorrect email information or a full inbox, please refer to the result in the system as the official outcome.
VII. Next Step: Online Course Selection
- Action: Please log in to the "NCKU Course Information & Enrollment System" to select your courses.
- Note: The exact course selection times are subject to the final announcement by the Registrar Division.
