📝 Notes:

  1. For students enrolled in or before the 2024-25 academic year, or 2025-26 academic year transfer students (without 4 English credits from their previous school but holding valid English proficiency certificates meeting NCKU's exemption criteria), the application process, criteria, and system are the same as for exemptions. Waived English credits count directly toward graduation. Students admitted in or after the 2025-2026 academic year who are granted an English course exemption must complete the exempted credits in Area Courses or Comprehensive Courses offered by the Center of General Education. For questions regarding these courses, please contact the Center of General Education or your department office.
  2. The Oxford English Placement Test (OOPT) is exclusively for module placement or English course exemption/credit replacement. If you wish to use OOPT scores as general proof of English proficiency, please evaluate carefully; the Foreign Language Center assumes no responsibility for its certification validity.
  3. TOEFL ITP is effective from August 1, 2021.
  4. TOEIC Speaking & Writing is effective from August 1, 2022. Students must provide both Speaking and Writing scores to apply for module classification or course exemption/credit replacement. Single-section scores are not accepted.
  5. BEST Test of English Proficiency (BESTEP) is effective from January 1, 2024. Students must provide both Speaking and Writing scores to apply for module classification or course exemption/credit replacement. Single-section scores are not accepted.
  6. Linguaskill (Business and General) is effective from January 1, 2024. Students must provide both Speaking and Writing scores to apply for module classification or course exemption/credit replacement. Single-section scores are not accepted.
