什麼是OOPT？

OOPT (Oxford Online Placement Test) 是一項由牛津大學設計的線上英語能力分級測驗 。

OOPT 成績用途

您的 OOPT 成績將作為以下重要事項的依據：

  • 分發英文課程模組
    • 0 - 60 分：分發至模組一 。
    • 61 - 89 分：分發至模組二 。
    • 90 - 120 分：分發至模組三 。
  • 抵免大學英文學分
    • 90 分 (含) 以上：可抵免/免修 2 學分 。
    • 110 分 (含) 以上：可抵免/免修 4 學分 。
  • 申請英文畢業門檻

What is the OOPT?

The OOPT (Oxford Online Placement Test) is an online English proficiency placement test designed by Oxford University.

  • Test Format: It is a computer-adaptive test, meaning the system automatically adjusts the difficulty of subsequent questions based on your performance.
  • Test Content: The test consists of 45 questions, divided into two sections: Reading (approximately 30 questions) and Listening (approximately 15 questions).
  • Test Duration: The entire test takes approximately 77 minutes.
  • Scoring: The maximum score is 120. Your score is displayed immediately upon completion and corresponds to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) levels.

    • The test is administered in the computer labs of the Computer and Network Center on the Cheng-Kung Campus.
    • The test is only 77 minutes long. You can choose a suitable session from the time slots arranged by the university before the semester begins.

    • You will receive your score immediately after finishing the test, with no need to wait for a score report to be mailed.

Uses of OOPT Scores

Your OOPT score will be used as the basis for the following important matters:

  • Placement into English Modules
    • 0 - 60 points: Placed into Module One.
    • 61 - 89 points: Placed into Module Two.
    • 90 - 120 points: Placed into Module Three.
  • Credit Exemption/Waiver for English Courses
    • 90 points or above: Eligible for a 2-credit exemption/waiver.
    • 110 points or above: Eligible for a 4-credit exemption/waiver.
  • Fulfilling the English Proficiency Graduation Requirement

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Why is it mandatory to take the English proficiency placement test?

A1: Our university's College English courses are taught in leveled modules. Students must obtain a test score to be placed into the appropriate module to enroll in English courses successfully.

Q2: What if I miss this opportunity to take the OOPT?

A2: You will have to register for an external English proficiency test at your own expense. After receiving your score, you must register your module placement at the Foreign Language Center before you can enroll in an English course the following semester. Please note that the OOPT is offered to first-year students only once upon admission; no make-up tests are available.

Q3: Who is not required to take the OOPT?

A3: Students who meet any of the following conditions are not required to take the test:

  • Those who already possess an English proficiency certificate that qualifies for a 4-credit English course waiver.
  • Students of the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature.
  • Returning students, exchange students, or transfer students.
  • Those who already possess any English proficiency certificate with a corresponding CEFR level (e.g., TOEIC, TOEFL, IELTS).

Q4: Is it true that the courses in Module One are the easiest?

A4: This is false information! Although Module One courses are designed for a foundational level, instructors supplement them with a significant amount of practice and assignments. The time and effort students need to invest are by no means less than that required for Module Two or Module Three.
