Important Notice for Graduating Seniors: Q&A Regarding English Credits and Graduation Requirements
Dear Graduating Students,
During the recent graduation review, many students have found they are short on English credits or have not met the graduation threshold. Since we are already in the second semester, please refer to the following Q&A and take action immediately to avoid delaying your graduation.
Q1: I applied for the credit exemption, why is it not showing in the system?
- Reason: You likely failed to complete the "Two-Step Verification" (Online Application + Physical Review). If there is no note on your transcript or record in the Competence System, the exemption was not completed.
- Action: Contact your department office immediately to petition for a "Late Credit Exemption Application."

Q2: What should I do if I don't have enough English credits?
- Action: You must enroll in summer English courses at another university. NCKU does not offer English courses during the summer, and the course enrollment period for this semester has ended.
- Warning: Before enrolling, you MUST bring the course syllabus to the Foreign Language Center (FLC) for verification. If you take a course without prior approval and it is not recognized later, you will be held responsible for the consequences.
Q3: What should I do if I haven't met the English graduation threshold?
- Option A: Take an English proficiency test immediately. The "Linguaskill" test is currently the fastest and most convenient option. Once you receive your results, apply for a late waiver (see Q1).
- Option B: Enroll in the "Summer Remedial English" course for this academic year.
Q4: What if I fail my "GE English" course this semester?
- Action: Please refer to Q2 (Enroll in summer courses at another university).
Q5: What if I fail the "Online Remedial English" course this semester?
- Action: Enroll in the "Summer Remedial English" course for this academic year.
